York and North Yorkshire Devolution further information

SENT ON BEHALF OF CLLR MARK ROBSON, LEADER, HAMBLETON DISTRICT COUNCIL

You may be aware from the media coverage last week that City of York and North Yorkshire councils have negotiated a proposed devolution deal between central government and local authorities for York and North Yorkshire.

This is an historic moment and the first powerful step towards long term change for our region.

The proposed devolution deal,  if agreed by respective councils and informed by public consultation, would deliver more local powers and decision making and more funding.  As it stands today, the proposed deal is worth up to £750m in total to York & North Yorkshire and would see a regionally elected mayor champion our region and form a direct relationship with government to secure future funding.

Devolution is our once in a lifetime chance to address our challenges and harness our unique potential for growth benefitting York, North Yorkshire and the whole of the UK, so I would like to thank you for your help with sharing this important information.

Please review the attached information which provides the content of the proposed deal and frequently asked questions. Any feedback would be appreciated.
