Stokesley Food Week welcomes wine lovers

Chapter's Deli- New Menu Fajitas

A special event for wine lovers is being held as part of this year’s Stokesley Food Week.

Local wine experts, Mike Sharman of Sharman Wines, will host the wine-tasting at Chapter’s Hotel in Stokesley on Wednesday October 5th.

Guests will be able to sample a variety of unusual wines from countries including France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand and Australia as well as enjoy a cheese and pate buffet.

Following the success of the first ‘Stokesley Food Week’ last year and the popular Tourfest event to celebrate the Tour de Yorkshire in May, Stokesley Parish Council is working with local businesses to stage the second Stokesley Food Week.

The event will run from October 1st to the 8th and will showcase the wide variety of restaurants, cafes, pubs and other food-related businesses in the market town.

Thanks to funding from the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding LEP and contributions from local businesses, Stokesley Parish Council hopes to make this year’s Stokesley Food Week even bigger than last year.

The event will include a range of activities such as pop-up food and cocktail demonstrations by well-known local chefs, special promotions, free samples and wine tasting and will kick off with special events at the monthly Stokesley Farmers’ Market- itself named the best farmers’ market in England in 2014- held on The Plain on Saturday 1st October.

Malcolm Smallwood, one of the parish councillors involved in organising Stokesley Food Week, said: “Our aim is to celebrate the incredible variety of food and drink producers in our local area and also showcase what we have to residents and visitors to the town alike. It’s a fantastic opportunity for people to try new foods, discover new places to eat and drink and see what our town has to offer. The wine tasting promises to be a lively event hosted by true experts in the field.”
