Putting gin on the menu in Stokesley

Chapter’s Deli has launched its new summer menus and has become one of the first bars and restaurants in Hambleton to offer a specialist selection of worldwide gins.

‘The Deli’, as it is known, on Stokesley High Street now offers more than 20 different gins- with this number constantly increasing- and a variety of its own gin-based cocktails, as well as specialist ‘gin flights’ for customers to try a range of unusual local and global gins such as Pickering’s, Death’s Door, Whittaker’s, Monkey 47, Rock Rose and Gin Mare.

As well as the new range of gins, The Deli has unveiled a new cocktail menu and a new food menu.

Head chef, John Carpenter, has worked at the restaurant for many years and John and his team of three chefs, including his own son Brad, have revamped the menu for the summer months to include dishes such as a range of homemade gluten free pizzas, fajitas, halloumi with roast peppers and olives on rye bread and a special superfood and healthy selection. In addition, the new menu also includes favourites such as homemade pizzas and pastas, fresh fish and grill dishes, the ‘Deli Burger’, which is made using a special family recipe, breakfasts, afternoon tea and the signature dessert the ‘Deli Bomb’- a handmade milk chocolate dome with white chocolate marble filled with ice-cream, fruit, cream and marshmallows.

‘The Deli’, as it is known, employs a team of 22 local staff headed by manager, Jake Taylor, and has been a popular destination in Stokesley for more than 15 years.

Jane Ablett, one of the owners of The Deli, said: “As a business, we try to constantly re-invent ourselves in-keeping with what we have always strived to do to satisfy our diverse mix of customers. Supporting local producers and suppliers is really important to us and our chefs work hard to source the best ingredients and put together varied seasonal menus.

“Gin is increasingly popular and demand for the more unusual types has increased dramatically this year. In response to customer demand, we’ve developed a special gin menu with attention to details such as garnishes and the best mixers. This is something we will constantly add to in the coming months too as we look to host some special summer events.”

The Deli is open seven days a week- including Sundays- for breakfast, brunch, afternoon tea, homemade cakes and scones, lunch and dinner, cocktail happy hours and Sunday lunch.
