Owners of Howard’s in Stokesley are quelling rumours that the business has been bought out.

The bistro has been owned by the Howard family, with well-known restaurant manager Peter Holligon running the business on a day-to-day basis, for the last eight years.

Recently, staff at Howard’s have been regularly asked if the business is under new ownership but Graham Howard is assuring people this isn’t the case.

Graham said: “It really is business as usual at Howard’s despite the rumours. We’re getting asked on a daily basis if the restaurant is under new ownership but it isn’t. We’re introducing new menus for the winter months as well as our Christmas menu, new dishes, private dining options and other ideas but that’s as far as the changes go. It’s still the same team at the helm that our loyal customers have grown to know.”

Manager, Peter Holligon, and head chef, Andrew Russell, have worked together to compile new winter menus that reflect seasonal, locally-available produce featuring dishes such as homemade chilli in a tortilla bowl, Cumberland sausage with homemade bubble and squeak, seasonal hash with quail’s egg, locally-landed fish pie, 21-day matured local rump steak and Howard’s popular range of handmade pizzas, pastas and burgers.

The business employs a team of 15 local people and works with local schools and colleges to provide a range of apprenticeship opportunities for young people.

Howard’s was again awarded a five-star hygiene rating over the summer and also announced a new partnership with Rington’s, making it the only food and drink outlet in Stokesley to sell the popular ranges of teas and coffees.
